Film buffs will next month be able to be part of a club to watch classic and modern films with like-minded people, followed by discussion and socialising, as a brand new film club is launched by the town’s Pavilion.
Starting on April 5th, the club will meet once a month, mostly on the first Tuesday. Being a member will mean you only pay £5 per movie, rather than the standard £8, and membership to the club will be free!
The first film to be screened is the 80s classic Jaws and in future screenings, the team plan to show The Maltese Falcon and Blazing Saddles.
Each evening will start at 7pm with an introduction to the film of the month by one of the members, which promises to add new dimensions to the screening. Afterwards, the refreshments booth will stay open and you will be able to stay and discuss the experience. You will then be invited to suggest which films the Pavilion could watch further down the line.
Chairman of the Hailsham Pavilion, Gareth Jones said: “Watching a good film is never a bad thing. Watching it on a big flatscreen TV is better. Taking things one step further and going to a comfortable cinema with a 15’ by 8’ screen with surround sound moves the event up a notch BUT, watching a movie in a comfortable cinema with a screen that would completely fill the wall of most lounges with surround sound in the company of a crowd of like-minded people is definitely BEST, and that is why the Pavilion has decided to launch a new film club!”
Future plans include introducing a junior film cub for younger fans and the possibilities of the club making their own movies, which will be screened at the Pavilion.
