Students from Herstmonceux Primary School Council have been finding out how a local Christmas Shoebox appeal is helping causes locally and in Eastern Europe.
Computers for Charities began supporting the Christmas Shoebox appeal in 1992 and now operates its own appeal. The students visited the charities Eastbourne workshop this week to see where there shoeboxes will go and also the processes in sending a shoebox to a needy cause.
For the first time, the charity opened its doors to local primary schools to understand and assist with shoebox preparations as the charity shortly begins distribution.
Chairman of Computers for Charities, Simon Rooksby said; “It was a delight to have this visit from the students and teachers of Herstmonceux Primary School and for them to understand the significance and hope such shoeboxes bring to the children and elderly at Christmas.”
To this the students entered into the spirit, lots of questions and then helped packing in the warehouse.
Simon continued; “The charity certainly remains keen to develop further links with local schools and remains grateful for the positive responses this year.”
