Leisure centre closes after storm damage

Date:

Hailsham’s Freedom Leisure Centre has announced it will stay closed this weekend after suffering damage by Storm Eunice.

Winds measuring up to 90mph swept through the county today (Friday) causing power cuts and damage to many properties including the Freedom Leisure building.

The centre has announced on social media: “It is with great regret that we are having to take the decision that due to structural damage, we will be closed for the weekend. We are currently texting our Saturday and Sunday swim school customers, calling our group exercise classes, bowling bookings and our party bookings.”

An Amber weather warning is still in place for the area with more high winds expected over the weekend.
