Power cuts and damage reported by Storm Eunice

Residents are being urged to stay indoors this afternoon as various incidents are reported in Hailsham.

A power cut is currently affecting almost 1,000 residents to the north of Hailsham and homeowners are reporting damage to property as high winds continue to batter the area.

A Red weather warning is in place which means a risk to life – the Met Office is warning people to stay inside their homes and only travel is essential.

The BP Garage is South Road is currently closed due to a section of roof falling from the garage and a power line has also come down on Arlington Road.

All bus services have been suspended in the town for the day due to safety concerns. Train services from Polegate and Hampden Park have also been effected.
