PHOTOS: Thousands flock from across South-East for Hailsham Community Run

Date:

THE organisers of one of Hailsham’s biggest events say it will continue to grow as it celebrates the completion of its third community run in the town.

It was a record-breaking year for entrants after the registration was closed early, as it reached its 1,000 capacity.

The event took place in the centre of Hailsham today (18 May), where competitors took part from all parts of Kent and Sussex.

The races included a 1-Mile event, sponsored by Alinker & Colston, a 3k run, sponsored by Hailsham Town Council, a 10k, sponsored by Hallmark Glazed Extensions and a 5k, sponsored by The Royal Indian. It boasts being fully inclusive and open to all abilities.

Organiser Mary Laxton said: “This has been a record year for participants and we are looking to make it even bigger and better next year, with an aim of welcoming around 1,200 entrants.

“Today has been incredible – the sun was shining, the town was packed with people, and the atmosphere was amazing. I’d like to thank all the volunteers who ensure the event goes ahead every year, and all the sponsors and marshals who have all made this the biggest year yet.”

The next event has been confirmed for Sunday, 17th May 2026, with registration open from 1st October 2025.
