BIRD spotting enthusiasts descended to the Cuckoo Trail this morning (23 December) following reports of a flock of the rare Waxwing.
Photographers and spotters with long lenses were treated to 16 of the rare birds who were feeding on berries in a number of bushes. These photos were taken by Jeff Penfold from Bexhill.
The birds are winter visitors, travelling here from Scandinavia when the food supply there runs low, according to experts.
According to the BirdGuides website, the country could be set to enjoy its biggest winter of Waxwings sightings for at least a decade, with flocks of more than 500 already being recorded last month.
