New recycling containers are to be installed in Hailsham following a number of fly tipping incidents in the town.
Wealden Council has told Hailsham News and Talk it is replacing all the current open top bins at the Tesco recycling point to reduce the amount of general waste being dumped by residents.
Contractors will be instructed to again clear up the over flowing bins this week before the locked new bins are installed within the next 10 days, according to Wealden Council.
Users will only be able to recycle material which can fit through the lid in the top of the containers.
A spokesperson from Wealden commented; “Any large items left outside the containers at the Tesco Recycling Point will be treated as a fly tip and we will be taking action. We will continue to monitor the situation to make sure this problem does not re-occur.”
